Certificate Course FAQ

How old is the JDMIS?

The JDMIS is a new school founded in 2007. It has grown out of the Creative Jewellery Studio, a school that was started by the JDMIS Dean Mrs. Tanja Sadow and has been operating in Singapore since 1995. In the last 10 years, before becoming the JDMIS, the Creative Jewellery Studio trained over eleven thousand students in Singapore and the World.

Where is the JDMIS located?

At present the JDMIS has its administrative office, student workshop and four classrooms on the 2nd storey of Shaw Towers Gallery, an established landmark in the Arts & Heritage District a stone's throw from the Raffles Hotel.

How many people will be in my class?

The school's four classrooms have a total capacity of 60. In an individual class you will have between 5 and 11 classmates depending on the type of course and method of presentation. For any skills based courses, the school maintains a student-to-teacher ratio of 10:1 or better.

Who will be teaching the courses?

Mrs. Tanja Sadow, Dean of the JDMIS will be supervising your classes and providing key instruction. Her team of GJPA professional jewellery instructors will be working with students throughout the courses to ensure everyone understands and successfully completes the project work.

Can I use my certificates to receive credit for diploma modules?

Yes, if you have taken a JDMIS certificate course that is analogous to a specific diploma module you will be able to receive credit for that module, provided you pass the requisite module exam or exams, and submit the required self-study project for for review by the faculty department head. Diploma students have double the amount of project work as certificate students, much of which is conducted in a supervised, self-study environment. Contact the admissions department for details on the project pieces you will be expected to produce to gain module equivalence.

How much do the courses cost?
Our certificate courses cost between $1500 and $2500, not including GST. There are no registration fees and courses include all tools and materials you will need to complete the course work and continue working from home. There are no hidden costs.

Can I put my name down and pay on the Day?
No, we have very small class sizes to ensure everyone has proper attention and certificate course registration is on a first-come first served basis. The only way to secure a seat in class is to pay a $300 deposit - you then pay the balance of your course fees on the first day of class.

How can I pay for the courses?

We accept many payment methods, if you want to pay over the phone the head office can accept Visa & Mastercard. If you visit the office, they can take any credit card, NETS or Singapore dollar cheque. If you use internet banking, we also accept local bank MAPS transfers and international wire transfers.
For Singaporean students or permanent residents who wish to finance their certificate courses, the JDMIS is working with TCC, a local credit union that provides very competitive educational loans that they have agreed to apply to our shorter certificate courses as well as our diploma programmes. If you would like more information on this we can email you their details or ask one of their credit consultants to call you. If you are planning to finance your courses, we recommend you plan a certificate schedule in advance so as to save on 'application fees' - loan disbursements can be made according to your certificate schedule so as to incur minimal interest on your loan.
